The Tormek slow running water cooled grindstone is ideal for sharpening your carving tools. The SVD-186 R makes it easy to sharpen even curved or bent carving tools. The grindstone is gentle to the carbon steel and eliminates the risk of overheating the delicate edge
The jig can be set to fit the shape of the tool, so you can create an even bevel on the entire part of the convex shaped edge. You can also sharpen down bent gouges with the same superior results
For woodcarving tools there are no set profiles, the easiest way to set the edge angle is to simply colour the bevel so you can see to see where the sharpening will take place
Note, for the most delicate carving tools, it might be enough just to hone it on the Tormek Leather Honing Wheel together with some Tormek Honing Compound
